What is Community Preservation Act Funding?

What are CPA funds?

Each year Belmont property owners pay a tax surcharge that contributes to a dedicated fund. This fund pays for local projects in three different categories: open space & recreation, historical preservation, and affordable housing. The state provides a partial match.

How does the town allocate CPA funds to projects?

Belmont’s Community Preservation Committee accepts and reviews project applications, then makes funding recommendations to Town Meeting. At the annual Town Meeting, members vote on which projects to fund from the CPA fund.

Separate applications for the Chenery Park Complex have already been submitted for design and construction funding, and will be considered beginning at annual Town Meeting in June 2024

No new tax increase will be required to support this project.
